Introducing Ryan Roche to McMullen

There are moments when I see a collection and fall in love. I've been watching Ryan Roche's collection for a couple of years now and during last February's buying trip to NYC, I finally felt like it was the right time to pick her up.

I'm over the moon about the yummy knits..and it looks like others feel the same way because she is a CFDA/Vogue Fund Finalist.

View her stunning new collection in store today

Renowned for the attention to sustainable detail, Ryan brings conscientiousness to both her
women’s collection which features exquisite cashmere knits made by a women’s co-operative in
Nepal and her newly launched collection of angora wool hats made in
New York.

Ryan Roche lives in an old stone house in upstate New York, with her husband and three children.

This blush cape and beautiful knits are available in store and soon online.

We're welcoming some wonderful new designers to McMullen this month.
One that we've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of, is none other than the fabulously talented, Erin Fetherston!

Erin Fetherston, a Bay Area native, presented her first collection in 2004, establishing her signature ~ beautiful, feminine looks.  Whimsical and with a distinct romantic sensibility, she has earned a devoted following of press and celebrities over the years.

Her Spring 2012 collection is infused with a girlish, 1960's mod-vibe that we're absolutely crazy about!  Below you'll find photos from the collection as well as a beautiful post on Erin we found at Tales of Endearment

Enjoy!

Tall, pale-skinned and strikingly blond, Fetherston is the ideal model for her clothes, which call to mind little girls at a garden tea party and rare birds in flight. There are organza party dresses, cascades of ruffles and a crimson hooded cape that is perfect for Little Red Riding Hood.

“I would like to be the Betsey Johnson for the next generation!” I overhear Erin confide in a captivated audience of fans at Jane Pratt’s website launch dinner. Dressed in a slinky black dress with plunging neckline, rocking her new Vidal Sassoon-inspired bleach blonde bob and a pair of stern, black reading glasses, 20-something Erin Fetherston only remotely reminds me of the cartwheeling Alley Cat, but her work as a designer has surely earned her a comparable cult-following amongst fashion-fabulous teens and celebrities.

October Designer Focus: Paul & Joe

Sophie Albou is the brains behind the popular French brand, Paul & Joe. Graduate of the French Fashion Institute, Sophie jump started her fashion career by joining design team, Azzedine Alaia, where her true talent and style began to blossom. She then became a stylist for Le Garage shirts and after six years of styling she embarked on a new journey to establish her own clothing brand.

The name, Paul & Joe, was named after Sophie's two sons. Her first collection was menswear, which was bright, colorful and exuded a retro and young vibe. Shortly after she launched her women's collection, which was strictly shirts and trousers which evolved to a fresh and colorful line, full of prints and femininity. The brand has taken off since the beginning and now is globally distributed.

Lemlem, a women's and children's line launched in February 2007, by super model and actress, Liya Kebede, cherishes and celebrates hand-woven fabrics and the art of weaving.

On a visit to her native country, Ethiopia, she saw that traditional weavers no longer had a market to sell their products, which inspired Liya to help maintain their art form and tradition. Lemlem, meaning flourish or bloom in Amharic, is rejuvinating the traditional weaving industry in Ethiopia, by creating job opportunities. All Lemlem pieces are completely hand-made in Ethiopia.
