Ever since its debut at McMullen in Spring 2009, Ports 1961 has consistently taken our breath away. Known for producing classic, structured pieces with a romantic and modern twist, designer Tia Cibani creates clothing to accomodate a woman's lifestyle where "elegance must meet her everyday needs." Cibani approaches this goal with a wordly, international perspective and a desire to communicate an imaginative story through her collection.This Fall, Cibani explores a world in which the technological coexists with the natural, venturing into "a realm that is rooted in the past yet reaches for the future." The product of this exploration is a collection that is simultaneously modern and classic. Combining contrasting textiles and adding abstract structural flourishes to simple shapes, Cibani celebrates yesterday while embracing tomorrow.
