McMullen Old Oakland Launch Party

We can't thank you enough for the overwhelming support of our Old Oakland popuphood location! We celebrated our launch on Tuesday and are feeling so much gratitude for all the wonderful people and community that made our launch party so special. We love Oakland!

Thanks to Darshellia Butler with Skillet Rose who made delicious bites, and the ever popular Taco Bike from Tamirindo as well as eco.love Wines and our sponsor smartwater. Also thanks to Tomas Valotta, a recent visual merchandising graduate from Academy of Arts who helped create our magical windows.  We are so inspired by local talent and want to showcase their work.  

If you haven't been to our new Old Oakland location please stop by for a visit. We now occupy 1,300 bright, beautiful square feet at 831 Broadway (corner of 9th and Broadway) and carry designers such as Rag & Bone, Current/Elliott, Jerome Dreyfuss, Rachel Comey and NAHM, plus Bay Area designers Marisa Haskell and Ali Golden and shoe designer Martha Davis among many fabulous others. Our store hours are Tuesday-Sunday from 11am-6pm.

Parking and Transportation:

There is a parking lot on 8th and Washington 

Street parking is available (meters end at 6pm)

The nearest BART station is just a few blocks away at the 12th Street Oakland City Station stop

We know you are going to absolutely love this week's spotlighted designer, Ulla Johnson. Her designs are known for custom prints, intricate details and fine tailoring which only enhance her fresh feminine aesthetic.

About Ulla Johnson:

Born and raised in Manhattan, Ulla Johnson honed her signature style in the streets of New York City. Inspired by the raw energy of the metropolis, Ulla draws fresh insights into how clothes can empower and inspire women. She has never wavered in her steadfast attention to the details of construction that have become her hallmark, basing each of her exquisite collections on a timeless foundation of natural fibers, beautiful finishing, and proper fit.

Q: What was your inspiration for Spring/Summer 2012?

A: I was very much inspired by colors and elements from the natural world - the prints were drawn from earth and sea motifs and the palette played between beachy neutrals and bright florals - peony, geranium, hibiscus. I also continued to explore my fascination with hand worked details with shibori dyeing and crewel embroidery.

Q: What are you most excited about in fashion right now?

A: Color, color, color!

Q: What's your favorite summer indulgence?

A: Our summer home in Montauk with my husband and kids.

Exciting News! We are proud to announce the debut of the second McMullen boutique in partnership with popuphood Oakland. Located at 831 Broadway in the heart of beautiful and historic Old Oakland, the corner space is 1,300 square feet with gorgeous windows all around.
