Her signature style is rendered by a lifetime of travels and a love of vintage fashion, menswear, and fine tailoring. Expect chic wardrobe staples that you will reach for again and again, including suits, dresses and separates that combine function and luxury.

McMullen Fashion Show Event at Citrix

We're so excited to be a part of a wonderful event at Citrix this Thursday!
The Seasons of Inspiration Series is the first of many inspirational talks to come, celebrating women entrepreneurs.

Sherri will be speaking at the event about her own journey and why she was inspired to open the McMullen Boutique. Guests will then be treated to an extra special fashion show (styled by Sherri), featuring Citrix staff as the models. SO fun!
Hopefully we'll have some great pictures to post after the event!

Congrats to Sherri for being such an inspiration not only to our entire team but to all female entrepreneurs out there!

For most of us, family is where the foundation of love is built. We often define the word family as our family of origin - those who lived under our roof while we were growing up. The one's who raised us.

But family can also be broader in scope. Close friends, confidants, trusted neighbors or even co-workers can be a part of your extended family. Because really, family is all about the people in your life that shower you with love, support and help you grow into the fullest version of yourself.

How do you express love to your family? Is it through words? Actions? We're curious. There are so many fun ways to share and spread love. And remember - the more you give...the more you get!

We are mildly obsessed with the newly arrived bags from 3.1 Phillip Lim. We featured them in our new arrivals on Wednesday, but thought you might like to hear a little back story and see what the Press is saying about these delicious go everywhere bags!

Like most of us, designer Phillip Lim could use more hours in his day—seven more, to be exact. Contending with a mere 24, he still managed to create the ‘31 Hour’, a chic transitional tote that can be carried from early-morning exercise class to after-work dinner and drinks. “I didn’t want to put another bag on the market that looked great, but didn’t really work with the lives we all lead,” says Lim.

Cut from a supple calfskin, the bag’s genius is in its versatility: one minute it’s a roomy shopper with space to lug a laptop; the other, a folded envelope clutch, compact enough to maneuver a cocktail party. If only everything were so easy, we wouldn’t need 31 hours.

NY Fashion Week :: Sachin + Babi RTW Fall 2012

Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia staged their first runway show today, a major moment for the husband-and-wife design duo (not to mention a nice way to spend Valentine's Day together). After seeing the first few looks in motion on the catwalk, it became clear that this season was not only an upgrade for Sachin + Babi's presentation format, but also for the clothing itself.

Backstage after the finale, Sachin explained that for Fall, they wondered, "What would a love child between between Jim Morrison and Kate Beckinsale look like? And more importantly, how would she dress?" So needless to say there was a lot of leather here. "But she isn't a tough girl with this hard exterior," Babi clarified. To mark the one-year anniversary of launching her lower-priced, more accessible ERIN line, Erin Fetherston whisked us away to an enchanted forest where a harpist (in one of the designer's gowns, of course) greeted guests at her Fall presentation. While such sweet whimsy is almost to be expected of the designer, the pieces on display tonight proved that she is indeed exploring new territory.
Inspired by the work of artist Barry Underwood, Fetherston described her collection as a "new-age fairy tale."

Certainly, there was the expected sea of ethereal party dresses embellished with everything from bugle beads to metallic snowflakes. But the designer went a few steps further, showing voluminous skirts and structured frocks, knits, and printed separates that recalled Underwood's images of nature illuminated by neon light. It's not surprising that Maria Cornejo returns to the theme of identity in her collection. Her personal history crisscrosses the globe, and even as the brand grows, there remains something quite intimate about it. Her designs are tied to her own wardrobe, and even her prints are usually based on quick snapshots on her iPhone, like abstracted postcards from her life. Having recently gotten her American citizenship, Cornejo found herself pondering her journey once more.
This idea of plumbing her past to push into the future isn't so different to what Cornejo does each season, refining the codes she's created while offering her faithful fan club something new to love. Here, for instance, the fluttery bright silk of her signature dresses evolved into blouses tucked into narrow, longish skirts. Another nice leap: splitting it into a matching top and skirt, which made for a highly appealing casual take on evening. To read more visit Style.com.

"Thoughtful, quiet, a little more sober," is how Derek Lam described his new collection. Lam's show had a sixties vibe that went beyond the bouffant hairdos and smoky cat eyes. Ruby Aldridge's white peacoat, poplin shirt, V-neck, and full black skirt conjured visions of some quirky coed, only in real life her jacket probably wasn't shearling, the sweater wouldn't have been cashmere, and the skirt most definitely wasn't black patent. As always, there was great outerwear here, but Lam de-emphasized fur in favor of down, cutting a jacket and vest in neat, trim shapes.When it came time for the final passage of eveningwear, we were firmly in the present. Only a high-tech mill could pull off those Aran sweaters made from twisted nylon tulle, and only a modern-thinking designer would pair them with long chiffon skirts trailing trains.To read more visit Style.com.

"Doo.Ri" and "draping" are virtually synonymous at this point, whether Doo-Ri Chung likes it or not. For the past few seasons, the designer has been kicking against her reputation as New York's draper extraordinaire and emphasizing her collections' tailoring and knits. Today, however, Chung came home to herself, helped along by the inspiration of Butoh dance and its poetry of motion. This collection boasted some of her strongest draped silhouettes in a while, notably the twist-top blouses and dresses. Here and elsewhere, necks were high, which gave the form-fitting silhouettes an air of barely suppressed sexiness. A sleeveless ink-blue wrap dress with a twist top, for instance, came off like something Halston might have produced after a stint at a Buddhist monastery.

With Valentine's Day tomorrow, we got to thinking about lovebirds.
Did you know that lovebirds were named because of their habit of cuddling next to one another and because once mated they can't survive without each other.
Even in nature we find love, loyalty, devotion. It is a part of human nature to strive to love and be loved.

Take a moment this Valentine's Day and send a sweet note to all the "lovebirds" in your life. List all of the ways they make your world a better place. Tell them the many reasons why you love them!

Where India and England intersect was the apparent starting point for the new Rag & Bone show. It didn't necessarily come through in the clothes, but so what? David Neville and Marcus Wainwright's strength as designers is understanding their own here-and-now and the style habits of cool, urban women.
Having lived through many New York winters by now, the English expats are well acquainted with the cold. This particular winter has been easy, but the R & B gal will be ready for whatever next December throws her way, because this collection, like all of their Fall outings, was a study in layers: a tile-motif jacket over paisley pajama pants, or a sweater and jacket on top of a draped skirt and slim leggings, with another blazer thrown on for good measure. They weren't shy about mixing herringbone with arrow prints with polka dots with stripes.
Outerwear was a strength. Especially a red, army green, tan, and black wool blanket stripe coat and a floral tapestry jacket with fur details (OK, that one put you in mind of the subcontinent). They both added needed jolts of color to a lineup that was predominantly black and white and shades of gray.

Many years ago, dresses were the mainstay of an Yigal Azrouël collection, before he moved into a strong sportswear niche. For fall, he returned to those chic, beautifully cut simple dresses. Lean, long-sleeved and calf-length, they came in ivory cable-knit, soft black leather, neutral printed silks and wine or evergreen silk faille trimmed with leather. There were sweaters too, most notably a long, chunky camel-and-black Fair Isle cardigan, worn over one of his printed dresses. "Of the relatively emerging New York school of designers, Kimberly Ovitz has been one of the few to hone in on a dark point of view, which was at its sharpest for fall. It’s Gothic and brooding without ignoring a woman’s sexuality. Working almost exclusively in black with a few murky browns and a flash of white on a printed chiffon dress, Ovitz created a tribal vibe via thick, glazed leather biker jackets and faux furs worn over draped jerseys that clung to the body. There was texture in crushed velvets and dresses done with geometric embroideries. She used long black hair — reportedly human hair typically for weaves — as accents on cross-body straps. If the undiluted look was extreme, pulled apart it was a collection of easy dresses and great outerwear fit for a girl for whom tough is a look, not a lifestyle." Source: WWD.com

We're welcoming some wonderful new designers to McMullen this month.
One that we've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of, is none other than the fabulously talented, Erin Fetherston!

Erin Fetherston, a Bay Area native, presented her first collection in 2004, establishing her signature ~ beautiful, feminine looks. Whimsical and with a distinct romantic sensibility, she has earned a devoted following of press and celebrities over the years.

Her Spring 2012 collection is infused with a girlish, 1960's mod-vibe that we're absolutely crazy about! Below you'll find photos from the collection as well as a beautiful post on Erin we found at Tales of Endearment!

“I would like to be the Betsey Johnson for the next generation!” I overhear Erin confide in a captivated audience of fans at Jane Pratt’s website launch dinner. Dressed in a slinky black dress with plunging neckline, rocking her new Vidal Sassoon-inspired bleach blonde bob and a pair of stern, black reading glasses, 20-something Erin Fetherston only remotely reminds me of the cartwheeling Alley Cat, but her work as a designer has surely earned her a comparable cult-following amongst fashion-fabulous teens and celebrities.

Get to know our designers :: Lela Tillem Becker and Tim Kaeding of Mother

We're so excited to announce the addition of a chic new denim line to the roster at McMullen!

Mother was co-founded in 2010 by Lela Tillem Becker and Tim Kaeding. Prior to starting their line, Lela was President of Sales at Citizens of Humanity and Tim headed the Design department at 7 for All Mankind.

They are definitely a dynamic (denim) duo!

Below you'll find a bit more information about the line as well as some photos of their current pieces and a peek at their "Mood Book" for this season (so gorgeous)!

Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia ~ designers, Sachin + Babi

Sachin + Babi’s Spring 2012 collection is inspired by 70′s glam rocker women Bianca Jagger, Grace Jones and Faye Dunaway, these icons are incorporated by use of “similar aesthetic and similar looks, but more relevant to our wardrobe now,” says co-designer Babi Ahluwalia.
The color palate consisted of bright oranges, pinks, and metallic is an ode to the couple’s Indian heritage and origin. For years Sachin + Babi have provided textiles to some of Fashion’s top designers, and their resources and understanding of that product showed through here as well as ever in their most recent collection. ...click here to read more

Our January Designer Spotlight is celebrated designer, Yigal Azrouël.

Born and raised in Israel of French-Moroccan descent and having traveled to locationsmetropolitan and remote, the designer draws inspiration from everything andeverywhere: art, culture, architecture, nature and his hometown, New York City.

Yigal Azrouëllaunched his eponymous women's wear label in 1998 to critical acclaim.

Azrouël,a self taught designer, and who's signature aesthetic can be found in hisexpert draping, has evolved throughout the years through a myriad of forms andfabrics. His designs are always modern and fresh, with a precise attention todetail.
